(Subclass 482 / TSS Visa)
We have previously provided various updates relating to the Skill Shortage Visa (subclass 482) visa (TSS Visa) and the abolition of the Temporary Work (Skilled) (Subclass 457) visa. This scheme is in a state of transition.
On 18 March 2018, the Migration Legislation Amendment (Temporary Skill Shortage Visa and Complementary Reforms) Regulations 2018 came into effect. The 457 visa has now been repealed, and the TSS Visa has been formally introduced into legislation.
The stated purposes of the TSS Regulations are to:

This visa is for Australian employers who want to sponsor highly skilled workers for a permanent visa to work in their business.
The employee can be either a highly skilled worker from overseas or a highly skilled temporary resident currently in Australia to get sponsored under the 186 & 457 visa pathways.
